Gepco yet to decide 427 cases of electricity theft

Sialkot: Gepco Sialkot teams have yet detected as many as 427 cases of electricity theft in Sialkot district, besides, collecting Rs.210 million as fine from the electricity pilferers during the ongoing campaign against the electricity pilferers in Sialkot district.

Superintending Engineer SE Gepco Sialkot Zahur Ahmed Chohan disclosed this while talking to the senior newsmen at his office. He said that the Gepco teams have yet checked as many as 4221 power connections and detected 427 cases of electricity theft.

He said that the Gepco has also collected an amount to the tune of Rs. 8.7 million from the accused power pilferers without registering FIRs against them, Rs. 14.4 million charged against accused Awais Chip cases and Rs. 4.7 million were charged from the accused, the SE Gepco added. Deputy Director Public Relations Gepco Gujranwala Rana Muhammad Jahangir, senior journalists Akram Malik, Zafar Malik, Abid Hussain Mehdi and other Gepco officials were also present on this occasion.
