SEHWAN SHARIF: Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan will inaugurate 761st Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar on Friday, June 28 at his shrine in Sehwan Sharif amid presence of thousands of pilgrims coming from all parts of the country and also from India.
All arrangements have been finalized by local administration in consultation with caretakers of the shrine. Deputy Commissioner and Chairman Mela Committee Jamshoro Sajid Jamal Abro has announced holiday in district Jamshoro on June 28 in connection with the Urs of the Sufi saint.
Sindh governor will also lay a floral wreath on the Mazar of the Sufi saint and offer Dua. He will also distribute clothes provided by Sindh Auqaf department among poor and deserving people, including orphans and widows. He will also inaugurate industrial exhibition and set off for Karachi.
Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, also known as Syed Usman Marwandi, was a saint, philosopher and poet. He belonged to the Suhrawardiyya order of Sufis.
He preached religious tolerance among Muslims and Hindus. His mysticism attracted people from all religions. Lal Shahbaz’ annual Urs is held on the 18 Sha’aban – the eighth month of the Muslim lunar calendar.
