Govt taking concrete steps to overcome gas shortage: NA told

Islamabad: Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal has said that the government is taking concrete steps to overcome the issue of gas shortage in the country.

Speaking in the National Assembly on Tuesday‚ he pointed out that the issue of low gas pressure arises in the winter season and specific steps have been taken particularly in Sindh‚ Balochistan and Punjab provinces to address the issue.

Later‚ the Minister of State moved a motion for discussion on gas load shedding in the country.

To a call attention notice‚ Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs‚ Shaikh Aftab Ahmed told the House that the construction of bridge over River Indus between Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

He said that an additional amount of 1527 million rupees are required to complete this bridge as well as for connecting roads.

Meanwhile,two bills were introduced in the House.

These include The Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment)‚ 2014 and The Civil Servants (Amendment) Bill‚ 2014 (Amendment in Section 19).
