Karachi/ Gadani: Pakistan Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Thursday said that the government is taking steps to end energy crisis in the country.
In his address after attending a briefing at Gadani, Balochistan about Rs60billion Pakistan Power Park project at Gadani to generate 660MW electricity, he said the sitting government has made a 25year long-term plan to generate 50,000 MW power to end load shedding in Pakistan for good. He said a similar project need to be set up at Thar.
He said power supply situation is improving after the government s settled the Rs 480bn circular debt. He said tough decisions have to be taken to ensure the circular debt issue may not rise again.
Chief Ministers of Sindh and Balochistan were also present.
Earlier, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif after reaching Karachi paid a visit to Mazar-e-Quaid and offered Fateha on the grave of the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Information Minister Parvez Rasheed and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar were also present.
To a question about the Sindh governor, he said MQM had got a mandate of people and mandate of all political parties should be respected. He recalled the days when he was brought to Karachi in an armoured personnel car APC. About the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner, Fakhruddin G Ebrahim, he that the CEC had performed his duties with sincerity.
