Greener Pakistan campaign kicked off (The Nation (Pakistan))

Bahria University Alumni Association in collaboration with Capital Development Authority (CDA) has initiated Plant for a Greener Pakistan campaign.

The event was organised in accordance with the Independence Day celebrations, making an effort to create awareness about the importance of plantation for a healthy nation.

The activity generated great enthusiasm among participants who planted more than sixty plants at F-8 green belt near telephone exchange.

Senior officials of CDA were also present on the occasion and they appreciated the efforts of the alumni association.

The members of Bahria University Alumni Association expressed their great passion and love for the country and stressed the need for creating an environment friendly and greener Pakistan.

Earlier, a flag hoisting ceremony was also arranged at BU Islamabad campus.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Boy Scouts Association (PBSA) arranged colourful programmes in connection with Independence Day celebrations at children emergency ward of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

On the occasion, the children ward was beautifully decorated with national flags, buntings and balloons.

The independence celebration started by unfurling the national flag by a little girl admitted in the hospital.

The admitted children, their parents, hospital staff and scouts recited the national anthem enthusiastically.

The activities included quiz competition, national songs, and speech contest and the children were awarded with attractive prizes.

Besides other dignitaries, Faisal Jamil, Provincial Secretary BSA FATA, Scouts from Punjab and AJK also attended the ceremony.

Meanwhile, the 69th Independence Day was celebrated at various educational institutions with patriotic zest.

The celebrations began with the flag hoisting ceremonies at various institutions.

Various programmes were arranged on the occasion and these included national songs, tableaus and speeches on the history of Pakistan Movement.

The teachers in a large number turned up and students displayed their love for the country.

Many participants were dressed up in green and white, which are the the colours of Pakistan’s flag.

Meanwhile, the Independence Day was celebrated in Wah Cantt with great enthusiasm and national spirit.

The day commenced with special prayers in the mosques in which prayers were offered for solidarity, prosperity and strengthening of the motherland.

A flag hoisting ceremony was arranged in the lawn of Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF).

Member POF Board Tabassum Rehman hoisted the flag.

A large number of POF officers, officers and Jawans of Pakistan Army, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force, DSG Battalion, FIU and PSU posted at POF, and POF employees participated in the ceremony.

Addressing on this occasion Director Security, Brig Sheikh Amir Fakhur congratulated the participants on Independence Day and remarked that the freedom is a great blessing which was achieved after numerous sacrifices.

Now it is the prime responsibility of all of Pakistanis to protect it, he added.
