Health Minister takes notice of polio virus case in city

Karachi: Provincial Health Minister Owais Muzaffar on Monday took notice of news about polio virus in one-year-old Sana, resident of Gadap Town, and sought a report from Secretary Health regarding her vaccination.

He also directed authorities concerned to ensure utmost security for polio teams during forthcoming polio campaign so as to ensure maximum coverage of five-year-old children.

Owais expressed his displeasure over non-availability of MRI machines at Civil Hospital Sukkur despite the release of Rs 110 million in this regard. He suspended the Medical Superintendent Sukkur and directed secretary health to enquire into the matter and report whether MRI machine was purchased or the amount was embezzled.
