Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health and Spokesman of the Provincial Government, Shaukat Ali Yousafzai has directed the health authorities to conduct probe into the use of hepatitis affected instruments, take action against those involved in this malpractice and in this connection get guidelines from the already held fact finding inquiry.
He expressed these views while attending a briefing on health department in Peshawar on Thursday. Secretary Health, Abid
Ali briefed the minister on the activities of the health department, its different projects, healthcare facilities being provided to the people and steps taken for improving the work of state run hospitals in detail.
Speaking on the occasion the minister health stated that they shouldn’t forget that healthcare was one of the basic human rights, state regulated, state controlled and state managed. He said under the 18th Constitutional Amendment, it was the
devolved subject and therefore, they had to work to enhance their capacity to efficiently cope with the new challenges.
The Health Minister declared that there would be no political interference in the government affairs and they only wanted best results and selfless services to the common man.
He said the government functionaries should exercise their delegated powers wholeheartedly for the welfare of the masses. He maintained that they were focusing on the upgradation of the facilities instead of constructing new buildings.
Shaukat Yousafzai also directed for carrying out crack down in the markets as well as hospitals against the substandard and spurious drugs and awarding exemplary punishment to those involved in this illegal business.
He further directed to make the burn units and other institutions working against the fatal diseases like hepatitis, cancer and AIDS etc more effective. Similarly, he asked the doctors and other staff to ensure their presence in the hospitals and focus on emergency services, cleanliness and services delivery.
The health minister called upon the doctors to serve the ailing humanity devotedly and get God’s blessings not only in this world but hereinafter. He said the medical profession was a sacred one and the doctors involved in this profession had a high place in the eyes of general people therefore they should do honest efforts to serve the people according to their expectations.
