Healthy lifestyle linked to better health

KARACHI: The 10th Annual two-day Symposium 2012 on topic: “Promoting Hormone Health” started here Saturday with aim to promote the understating of endocrine disease, diagnosis, management and available treatment. The symposium was organized by the Pakistan Endocrine Society at local hotel.

Renowned national endocrinologists gave lectures on Metabolic Bone Disease in Children, Obesity, Insulin therapy & menstrual disturbances, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and its symptoms, diagnosis, management and available treatment options in local and national setup.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony Dr Prof Muhammad Zaman Shaikh, Director of National Institute of Diabetes & Endocrinology, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) said tension-free and healthy lifestyle would decrease the risk of hormones disorder in masses. He said proper awareness through workshops, symposium and media can save precious lives.

The experts also delivered lectures on topic of thyroid nodules, evaluation of short stature & diabetic foot through presentation.

There will be a satellite symposium on the topic of “Translating Diabetes Care from Guidelines to Practice” on second day of symposium on 9th December.

A large number of experts, doctors and people belonging to different walks of life attended the symposium.
