Hepatitis camp at village

Ratodero, Sindh: A Hepatitis screening & vaccination camp was organized recently at village Khawand Dino Kalhoro of Miro Khan taluka, district KambarShahdadkot by a team of doctors and laboratory technicians of Sentinel Site of Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana.

As many as 550 villagers were screened out in the camp including 360 males and 190 females. Out of these screened people 20 turned out to be carrying HBV virus and 33 were detected suffering from Hepatitis C.

The Focal Person in a letter to the Provincial Programme Manager, Hepatitis Prevention & Control Programme Chief Minister’s Initiative, Hyderabad, informed him to provide Hepatitis B vaccine for second & third dozes to Taluka Hospital of Miro Khan, to vaccine the people for which 480 adults have been enrolled and 50 are children.

This shows that the gravity of the problem due to which people continue to suffer for no fault of theirs at all. KambarShahdadkot, Jacobabad, Kandhkot and Shikarpur districts are the worst affected areas where hepatitis cases continue to rise without any break which should be taken care of on urgent basis.

Preventive measures by the concerned District Health Officers are almost nil in the affected districts as the cases continue to rise.
