Islamabad: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Hoti praised NADRA’s efforts for issuing Watan cards and IDPs Management in KP province terming it a significant and practical step of the NADRA towards rehabilitation and recovery of affectees.
He stated this while during a meeting with Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik here on Thursday. Chairman NADRA informed the CM that NADRA has so for processed 285,653 Watan Cards via CDCP program and distributed cash of 11,253,060,000 among the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Chairman NADRA also discussed the security situation with the CM and appraised him about the attacks on the NADRA registration centers.
The CM KP assured the Chairman NADRA that he would direct the home ministry to ensure foolproof security to the NADRA centers in the sensitive areas of the province.
The chairman NADRA also briefed the CM about the Pension Disbursement Program through Smart Card. Through this program NADRA will facilitate pensioners by issuing them biometrics Smart Cards so that they could withdraw their pension from any biometrics enabled platform used by Banks, Post Offices and any other alternate channel.
The proposed system comprises of three main elements starting from the collection of pensioner’s data to eliminate duplication and ghost pensioners, issuance of Smart Identity Cards and then the deployment of Pension Disbursement system to be utilized by all disbursing partner entities. In this regard the CM assured complete support from KP government in its application and implementation.
The CM KP also applauded NADRA’s program managing Sind’s Zakat system which NADRA in collaboration with Sind’s Ushr and Zakat Department has developed Guzara Allowance program aiming to facilitate initially 85,000 beneficiaries with a view to streamline country’s zakat disbursement system through a secure biometric mechanism and easy disbursement mechanism through eSahulat targeting the poorest of the poor.
Chairman NADRA requested the CM to direct DCOs of the KPK Province to help authority identify areas and pockets of province where CNIC registration is low so that NADRA can send its mobile teams to register people. “We are racing against time to register left out population before elections so that they won’t be disenfranchised.” said Tariq Malik.
He said NADRA was determined to provide mobile registration services for that purpose. He apprised the CM that NADRA has registered 95% male and 88% female in KPK.
While noting the fact that KPK is the most effected province as far as terrorist activities using unregistered mobile sims are concerned, he appreciated new biometric verification system introduced by NADRA and PTA, He hoped that this will significantly help combating terrorist activities and heinous crimes in the province.
The CM appreciated the issuance of new secure smart cards. “The smart cards will put forgers of CNICs out of business” hoped CM KPK. Mr. Hoti was also applying one for himself tomorrow. He urged KPK Public servants and people of KPK to get Smart CNIC, as NADRA is offering Rs100,000 as accidental life insurance with the smart card. CM also praised the way NADRA facilitates the families of deceased employees by giving them employment.
