IGP directs police to remain on high alert

Karachi: Inspector General of Police IGP Sindh Shahid Nadeem Baloch on Thursday directed police to be on high alert in remaining days of Ramazan to avoid any untoward incident.

He instructed while chairing a meeting at Central Police Office here. Additional IG Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo, AIG Special Branch, DIG Headquarter Sindh, Zonal DIGs and AIG Operations Sindh also attended the meeting. IGP Sindh instructed the police officers to ensure comprehensive intelligence collection and sharing system for security with coordination of intelligence agencies under protective policing.

He ordered police to remain on high alert and stressed the need for bringing reforms in present police intelligence system, while keeping law and order situation and modern security techniques in the mind so as to avoid any untoward incident.

IGP urged police to arrange proper briefing of police personnel deployed around the important places, sensitive installations, including mosques, Imambargahs, Madaris, open places allocated for Taraweeh prayers and public places. The presence of Bomb Disposal Squad BDS teams at important areas should also be ensured, he said.

He directed the police to take prompt actions in crime affected areas like shopping centers through schedule snap checking, picketing and patrolling along with police reporting centers established in central markets of the city.
