KARACHI: A high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police IGP Sind, Shahid Nadeem Baloch, at Central Police Office to review in detail the police security measures in connection with the coming general elections.
The meeting was also attended by Additional IGs of Sind, Traffic Karachi, CID; DIGs of Karachi, Headquarters, Hyderabad, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur , CID, Special Brach, Crime, Traffic Administration and all District SSPs of the province.
Baloch directed police officers to early finalize District Election Contingency Plan in consultation with respective district and session judges and Deputy Commissioners. He also directed special branch to assist District SSPs in finalization of election contingency plan.
IGP also instructed police officers to ensure survey of the police stations along with the designated district head of Election Commission and respective Deputy Commissioner and submit report in this regard at the earliest.
IGP further asked to submit details of additional requirements, including manpower logistics etc ,for the coming elections within 24 hours through respective Range DIGs. He stressed the need to identify general issues prevailing in the respective districts and adopt measures to resolve them at local level by involving community members and local leaders.
IGP said that extraordinary security measures must be entrusted to provide security to the lives and properties of the people, vital installations, government and semi government buildings. He also directed to ensure security to the foreign citizens working on different projects in the province and make it a part of the election contingency.
