Illegal use of tinted glasses in vehicles by the Government officials campaign against tinted glasses

Peshawar: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the Home & Tribal Affairs Department has once against taken a very serious notice and it has been observed by the competent authority that government’s officials of various departments including Law Enforcing Agencies LEAs are illegally using tinted glasses on their official and even private vehicles.

Under rule 160 of Motor Vehicles Rules, 1969 as amended under the Home & Tribal Affairs Department’s notification of 10th July 1991, use of tinted glasses in motor vehicles has strictly been prohibited.

Moreover, many requests from various organizations, very important persons VIPs and even from the Provincial Cabinet Ministers have been regretted due to the policy being in yard.

It is also pertinent to quote here that provincial cabinet, in its meeting dated 8th June 2009, had already decided to impose ban on use of tinted glasses in vehicles.

All the government’s officials are therefore, directed to remove tinted glasses from their official and private vehicles.

In this regard that Home & Tribal Affairs Department has issued detailed instructions to all Administrative Secretaries to Govt: of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Police Office PPO, all Divisional Commissioners, Capital City Police Officer CCPO,
all Regional Police Officers RPOs in the province for launching a special campaign on top priority basis by the traffic police throughout the province against the users and providers of the tinted glasses – and requested the aforementioned authorities to keep the Home Department posted about this move.
