Karachi: Dow University of Health Sciences DUHS Karachi is organizing an International Symposium on ‘Ramadan and Health’ from 25th to 26th October 2013 first time in Pakistan, at Dow International Medical College, Ojha Campus.
The Pre-symposium of the Working will be held on 25th October 2013 at NIDE Ojha Campus. The Registration of Pre Symposium Workshop is free for doctors.
The Pre Symposium Workshop is divided into 2 sections. In the first session, Dr Zaman Shaikh, Ex Director, National Institute of Diabetes & Endocrinology NIDE, DUHS and Dr Farid Uddin, Deputy Director National Institute of Diabetes & Endocrinology NIDE, DUHS will speak on Insulin therapy.
In the second session, Dr Nazeer Shaikh, Director, Research Department, DUHS, Dr Abdul Rasheed & Mehwish Hussain will speak on Bio-Statistic Techniques.
The aim of this conference is to share the research studies conducted by international and national researchers to understand the effect of Ramadan fasting on human health. The speakers of the Symposium will be sharing their findings on variety of different health related issues during fasting including Ramadan fasting related practices, fasting and feasting in Ramadan, physical activity during Ramadan fasting, management of hypertension and diabetes mellitus during Ramadan fasting, health related quality of life and many other commonly occurring health issues in relation to Ramadan fasting.
