Islamabad: Participants of WIPO Regional Workshop on Building Respect for Intellectual Property at Maldives, renewed their pledges for initiating public awareness activities about protection of IP Rights in their respective countries especially sensitizing masses about the negative impacts of pirated and counterfeited products.
This assurance was given by the participants of workshop belonging to public and private sectors during second day of the event organized under the auspices of World Intellectual Property Organization WIPO with the assistance of Japan Patent Office and Ministry of Economic Development, Maldives, said a statement received here Thursday from Male.
According to the second day proceedings of the workshop a presentation on Corporate Social Responsibility Public-Private Benefits was delivered by Associate Legal Officer Building Respect for IP Division WIPO Ms. Judith Soentgen in which she mentioned the initiatives in context of Social Corporate Responsibilities and IP.
Counsellor Building Respect for IP Division World Intellectual Property Organization WIPO, Mr. Omar Katbi elaborated developing and implementing a National Public Outreach Campaign.
He highlighted WIPO Outreach Tools and success stories with the help of printed material and documentaries. Mr. Omar also introduced WIPO contributions for capacity building in developing awareness strategies.
He showed documented IP awareness campaigns of various countries in which the issues of counterfeiting and piracy were emphasized.
The participants took keen interest in interactive sessions of the workshop and expressed their views termed workshop very successful for WIPO member countries which would help to undertake new projects for awareness about IP.
