Israeli warplanes attack targets in Gaza Strip

Israeli warplanes attacked early Thursday several locations throughout the Gaza Strip, causing damage but no injuries.

The Israeli occupation army said the attack came after a rocket fired from Gaza fell in an open area in the south of Israel. Extensive damage and fire broke out in the targeted locations, WAFA correspondent said, adding that the fighter jets attacked a total of eight targets.

The strikes shattered a few days of relative calm in the Gaza Strip as Egypt continues efforts to reach a long-term calm between Israel and Hamas, which controls the besieged enclave.

Meanwhile, eight people were injured on Wednesday night in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, after Israeli soldiers opened fire at Palestinians who gathered near the border fence with Israel. The injured were taken to the hospital and reported to be in stable condition.
