KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sindh chapter amir Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui has criticized the performance of local government institutions of Sindh, saying civic facilities are deliberately worsened in Karachi and Hyderabad to get some political mileage.
Addressing an Iftar dinner in the honour of media at a local hotel Sunday evening, he said despite change in federal and provincial government the issue faced by the masses including violence, load shedding, price hike and poverty remain same. He asked that a commission should be established to end the crippling energy crisis.
He said huge losses in Karachi and Hyderabad and other towns during recent rains show that the performance of local government institutions of Sindh is being deliberately worsened. He demanded to reactivate the local government institutions to solve the grassroots problems of the masses.
He said in towns there are terrorists and in village dacoits, while there is no one to safeguard the life and property of citizens. He said during last six month some 3000 people were killed in Karachi which shows the level of governance in this province.
He hoped that the present elect Mamnoon Hussain would take serious efforts for solving the issues of Karachi as being resident of this city he knows about its issues. He said the JI fully cooperate with the government in the interests of people.
JI leaders Asadullah Bhutto, Abdul Ghaffar Umar and Mujahid Channa were present.
