JI decries PM’s anxiety to befriend India

Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s statement that every effort would be made to improve ties with India, and that back door diplomacy had already been started in this regard, was most unfortunate and against national interests and the sentiments of the people of Pakistan. .

In a statement here on Thursday, he said that whereas India had always been conspiring against this country, Mian Nawaz Sharif was keen to promote ties with the neighbouring country even at the cost of national interests, and was also on record to have suggested the undoing of the borders between Pakistan and India. This only shows that Mian Nawaz Sharif was playing on the Indian wicket and serving New Delhi’s interests, but the nation won’t allow that.

Hasan pointed out that New Delhi had always been making poisonous propaganda against Pakistan in a bid to defame the country. He said a high ranking Indian official disclosed before a Delhi court the other day that India had itself engineered the Mumbai attack as also the attack on the Indian parliament, and put the blame on Pakistan.

He said that for months together, India had been demanding extradition of Jamaat al Dawa chief, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed for planning the Mumbai attacks.

The JI Ameer said that had such a revelation ever been made by some Pakistani official, India would have grabbed the opportunity to make worldwide propaganda against Islamabad and also moved international forums for action against this country. However, it was surprising that the Pakistan government was keeping mum on such an important issue, and from this gesture, one could safely presume that the PMLN leadership had reached some understanding with the US that on coming to power, it would befriend India at every cost.

The JI Ameer said that India’ role in the creation of Bangladesh, and its involvement in terrorist activities in Balochistan was an open secret. Besides, India was stealing our share of river water with the evil intention to convert this country into a desert. With the US blessing, India was blaming this country of patronizing terrorists.

He said that the JI was not against normal relations with India. It only wanted that the major issues between India and Pakistan, including Kashmir and river water issues must be resolved before building trade or other relations with that country.
