JI will not accept privatization of PSM

KARACHI: JamaateIslami JI Karachi Chief Engr Hafiz NaeemurRehman has made it clear that his party will not accept the privatization of Pakistan Steel Mill PSM and other national institutions on the dictation of International Monetary Fund IMF.

JI Karachi Chief questioned that why the PMLN government does not public the corruption in PSM, adding that the PSM could make a profitable institution once again by bringing back the plunder money.

He expressed these views during a meeting with the delegation of Pakistan Steel Labour Union PASLU at IdaraeNoor Haq here on Sunday.

The PASLU delegation comprised of its President Haji Khan Lashari, General Secretary Zafar Khan, Vice President Tariq Mehmood, Joint Secretary Aaqif Naqash and others. JI Information Secretary Zahid Askari was also present on the occasion.

During the meeting, the PASLU delegation informed the JI Karachi Chief about the deteriorated situation of PSM and nonpayment of the salaries to the employees.

On the occasion, the PASLU delegation has appealed the JI leadership to raise its concern over the sensitive issue of PSM.

JI Karachi Chief Engr Hafiz NaeemurRehman assured full party support and cooperation to the delegation and demanded releasing of employees salaries.

He further demanded of the government to take serious steps towards converting the PSM into a profitable institution and secure the future of thousands of employees and their families.

On the occasion, General Secretary PASLU Zafar Khan said that no one except the government of Pakistan can run the only steel mill of the country, but the institution is being destroyed by following the agenda of IMF.

“Our case is completely different from Pakistan Railways PR and Pakistan International Airlines PIA, however, the PMLN by making it worse, trying to privatize the national institution”, he added.
