JPMC employee who attempted suicide still under psychic assessment

Karachi: An employee of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre JPMC, who had attempted suicide bid recently is admitted in the psychiatry ward for assessment, said an official. Zulfiqar Ahmed, serving in the General Surgery Ward 2 of the hospital as a dresser had attempted suicide bit against when his quarter was vacated by the JPMC management.

Deputy Director JPMC Akhter Anwar, when contacted, said Zulfiqar had illegally occupied the quarter, for which he was suspended and a showcause notice also issued to him. He said Zulfiqar has been under assessment in psychiatry department for last three days and would be discharged after completion of assessment.

However, President JPMC Doctors Association Dr Javed Akhter Jamali told PPI here that JPMC administration is treating its employees unfairly, in a revengeful manner. He claimed that an employee of JPMC had committed suicide against negative attitude of administration two years back. He said in a recent meeting with secretary health the JPMC doctor association had discussed these issues and the secretary assured to resolve them.

Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association PPSA official Muhammad Ismail Jiskani condemned what he called the biased attitude of JPMC administration and demanded the higher authorities to take notice of the prevailing situation.
