Karachi closed on MQM ‘mourning day’ call

KARACHI: Karachi remained closed on Sunday on the call of Muttahida Quami Movement of observing a ‘mourning day’ against bomb blasts on Sunday night near its unit office in Orangi town in which at least six people died and more than 50 others injured.

MQM had appealed to businessmen, traders, shopkeepers, industrialists, transporters and others to observe a peaceful day of mourning by keeping their shops and business closed. Responding the call all market areas and bazaars remained shut. Public transport plied on road, albeit thin. Petrol pumps and gas stations, saving a few localities, were closed.
