Karachi lawlessness affecting industry

Karachi: Chairman Law and Order Sub Committee of Korangi Industrial Area Nadeem Khan Wednesday said Karachi is passing through a difficult phase due to deteriorating law and order situation which has immensely affected the industry.

He urged the government to take serious notice of the law and order situation in the city and immediately initiate steps to arrest fast surging crime graph.

Commenting on the MQM demand for deployment of Army in the city, he said the deployment is not the only solution to the law and order issue.

Proper and effective deployment of police and rangers can bring peace in the city and provide relief to general public, traders and industrialists. He said maintaining law and order is the responsibility of government of Sindh and added that if the law and order in the city would be maintained adequately the wheel of industry would be moving peacefully.

He said rangers was performing its duty as it apprehended many criminals and handed them over to police for further action. However, he alleged that police is not performing its duty and only minting money and releasing criminals after taking bribe.

Nadeem Khan said anyone can well judge the sorry state of affairs. How many criminals have been apprehended in the city and how many of them were prosecuted and punished in last few years

He said representatives of traders, industrialists and relevant government officials should sit together and chalk out a comprehending strategy to overcome law and order problem. He said the time is running fast and the country needs investment to absorb increasing labour force that will only be possible if drastic steps are taken towards improving the law and order situation.
