Karachi: The largest Francophone cultural festival in Karachi – la Semaine de la Francophonie – is being launched this month.
Now in its fifteenth year, the event will bring a month of exciting lectures, films, art exhibitions and more. The event is a voyage of exploration, discovery, and cultural sharing that emphasizes the diversity of the French language and the cultural ideals of the Francophonie. Since over a decade, the event has seen collaboration by some of the most prestigious organizations in Pakistan.
La Semaine de la Francophonie will kick off from on 16 March with its ‘Opening Day’ at Alliance Française de Karachi. The day will include an open stage with poetry, songs, and stage performances and much more!
The programme will commence at 2:00pm with a Francophone Open Stage which will include songs from children and students. This will be followed by an Exhibition of ‘Dismoi dix mots’,
At 4:00pm Alliance Française will hold an exclusive French speakers Conference which will have attendance by the consuls general from Russia, Canada, Turkey, Thailand and France who will share their experience of the French language. The Conference will be moderated by Saidulla Khan Dehlavi, the former Ambassador of Pakistan to France.
The Opening Day programme will also include a Diplomas Awards Ceremony where DELFDALF diplomas will be awarded to the candidates of the November 2012 session. The programme will conclude with a dynamic theatre performance with the students of Alliance Française de Karachi.
