Kashmiris observe Indian Republic Day as Black Day

Muzaffarabad: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world observed Indian Republic Day as Black Day on Saturday.

It was aimed at to draw attention of the international community towards the fact that India’s claim of being a democratic republic is hollow as it has usurped the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination for the past over six decades.

In Muzaffarabad a protest rally was held under the auspices of Kashmir Liberation Cell. Speakers on this occasion urged international community to pressure India to implement UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir and grant Kashmiris their internationally recognized right to self determination.

They lauded the Kashmir policy of Pakistan government and thanked President Asif Ali Zardari for highlighting Kashmir issue in its true perspective at international fora. A resolution was also adopted in the rally urging civilized nations to play their due role in resolving the longstanding issue of Kashmir. Deputy Speaker AJK Legislative Assembly Shaheen Kausar Dar and AJK Minister for Rehabilitation Abdul Majid Khan spoke on the occasion. Later the participants of the rally handed over a protest memorandum to UN Military Observer Mission in Muzaffarabad.
