Khuhro-Bhutto community dispute escalates

NAUNDERO: The ongoing dispute between Khuhro and Bhutto communities has escalated further as an 11yearold boy, Sher Muhammad alias Babloo, son of Manzoor Khuhro, was injured in a firing incident in Khuhra Mohalla near President Camp House here on Tuesday morning.

The injured was rushed to Chandka Hospital Larkana for treatment as no such facility was made available in the home town of Benazir Bhutto by the previous PPP rulers during their five years term. The Chandka duty doctors told Journalists that the bullet crossed near the jaw of the injured boy and his condition is stable.

SHO Naundero police station Sadoro Lashari told Reporters that the boy was playing in a street when he was suddenly hit by a bullet and they are investigating who fired the shot. On hearing the news, recently posted SSP Larkana Syed Peer Muhammad Shah arrived on the spot along with heavy contingents of police and conducted search raid in village Allah Warayo Solangi where the suspects of this dispute were said to be hiding.

On seeing the police, all male members of Kurio clan escaped, leaving behind their children and women, hence, police returned without any arrest. SSP told Reporters that writ of police would be established in Larkana district at all costs and nobody, whosoever he is, would be allowed to take law into his hands.

He further said that people of both disputing communities would be arrested if they did not stop killing each other. He further said that he would never allow the towns and cities to become WANA. PRO to the SSP through an SMS disclosed that police have arrested Hussain Buriro whereas Murtaza alias Murtoo Buriro surrendered before Naundero police and he claimed that both are main accused in the said dispute and most wanted.

Khuhro community people have alleged that police has been deployed to provide round the clock security to their opponents at their residences but they have been ignored of right from the beginning even though they are being killed only because they are Khuhro by caste.

On the other hand, few women of Burira community held a protest demonstration in Pir Jan Muhammad village and alleged that police conducted searching raid unnecessarily and illegally and took away their valuables. Women, including Hajul, Sharifan and Haneefan Buriro, told Reporters that police has also arrested 14 of their men from the nearby lands when they were busy in wheat crop harvesting. So far this dispute has claimed eight lives, five from Khuhro community and three from Bhutto side. The dispute started over the ownership of riverine land which both sides claim ownership.
