Kidnapping of children in Mobina Town PS on the rise No clue yet to Shumaila who went missing on June 2

KARACHI: Roshni Helpline said on Tuesday that kidnapping cases of innocent children are continuous to rise from the jurisdiction of Mobina Town Police Station (PS). On 2nd June, 2013, a six-year-old girl Shumaila d/o Faiz Baksh mysteriously disappeared from Quaid-e-Azam Colony, Gulshan-e-Iqbal town. The girl came back from school and went outside of home to take sweets from a shop but never came back. The father of Shumaila visited the police station but they delayed the process of lodging the FIR.

The father of girl said; “We have searched the localities, Edhi Homes or other shelters and places, but there is no clue to my daughter. We have fear that someone might have kidnapped and abused her. We also feared she might have been murdered her. Police is not taking any serious action for recovery of my daughter and I am very disappointed.”

The cases of mysterious disappearances of girls from the jurisdiction of Mobina Town is continue to rise but police has not shown any seriousness to stop the inhuman crime. During last couple of years girls went missing mysteriously and after few days, their bodies were found after sexual exploitation.

This includes five-year-old girl Rihana, 12-year Fatima Ali, five-year-old Vaniya, 13-year-old Fauzia and 10-year-old saqib. These all children were sexually assaulted, tortured and murdered during last couple of years. Two other girls, 7-year-old Mehwish d/o Ramzan, 3-year-old Nisha are still missing and no clue to them has been found yet.

These mysterious disappearances are an alarming situation for police, law enforcement agencies and government. Action speaks louder than words and to save the future of our children, serious actions are need to be taken.

Roshni Helpline, a non-profit and non-government organization (NGO), is registered to Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh. The core of the organization is focus on protection of children, especially missing and exploited ones.

According to Roshni Helpline assessment, every year hundreds of children go missing mysteriously in Karachi. Roshni Helpline is running 24/7 helpline “1138” for timely registration of missing children cases and working for swift recovery and reunification of missing children with families.

The father of missing girl Shumaila and Roshni Helpline has appealed to chief minister, governor and IGP of Sindh to help the family in tracing and reunification of girl. This is also requested to take immediate steps to stop this inhuman crime in Karachi, especially in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
