KP Police reforms

Peshawar: In order to root out corruption and incompetent police officers from the force, the Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in line of the govt policy have constituted Disciplinary Committees at Regional Level and Police Accountability Commission at Central Police office level.

As per details the Regional Committees to be headed by Regional Police Officer RPO will have all District Police Officers DPOs and SSP Special Branch its members.

These committees with the help of intelligence reports and police record will probe into the way of life and assets of the corrupt and dishonest police officers and will further recommend to CPO for departmental action which also included their expulsion from the force.

Likewise a police accountability commission has been established at CPO level to be headed by Additional IGP headquarters. Its members include DIG Headquarters, DIG Enquiry and Inspection, AIG Establishment and AIG Legal.

The commission will review the recommendations of the Regional Disciplinary Committees and will give its approval for the action. After that the competent authority through departmental action will kick out the dishonest and corrupt police officers from the force.

The Inspector General of Police Ihsan Ghani has directed the committees and commission to complete all process within a month. He further vowed that corruption, dishonesty and incompetency could not be tolerated at any level in the force and action would be taken to purge the force from such unscrupulous elements without any discrimination.

He hoped that such action will earn good name for the force and will not only improve its performance but will also set an example for other officers of the force to follow.

He also hoped that action against corrupt and unscrupulous elements will pave the way for positive changes in the force as per the vision of the chief minister.
