Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zakat Council on Wednesday disbanded all the district and
local zakat committees in the province.
The decision to this effect was taken in the 11th meeting of zakat and ushr held in Peshawar. Chairman of the council, Ghulam Mohiuddin, presided over the meeting. Secretary Zakat, Humayun Khan, Deputy Secretary Syed Maqbool Shah, member zakat council Seemi Saba, Maulana Inamullah, Sultan Hussain Farooqi and Bilquis Murad also attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Chairman Zakat Council said there were charges of corruption against zakat committees which had solid proofs therefore these committees were disbanded.
He directed members of the council to monitor the distribution of zakat in order to make it transparent and deserving people could have their due. The meeting also reviewed the proposed zakat budget for the year 2013014. It also review other concerned matters.
