Karachi: Karachi Water & Sewerage Board KW&SB has sought help from Finance and Local Government Departments to recover Rs.328 million dues outstanding on Public Health Engineering Department due from February 2012 onwards.
In a letter to Secretary Finance and Secretary Local Government Managing Director KW&SB Misbahuddin Farid requested that KW&SB is going through financial crises and in order to carry on day to day operations it is vital that all Government, Semi Government and Private Institutions pay their outstanding dues.
Furthermore, beside the maintenance and day to day expenses required to ensure swift provision for water supply and sewerage facilities to the citizens of Karachi, salaries of employees and medical expenses are also a vital necessity.
MD KW&SB briefed Secretary Finance and Secretary Local Government that KW&SB sent a detailed summary to Government of Sind with the details of the 328 million due outstanding on Public Health Department requesting GOS to supply PHED with sufficient funds. He briefed that PHED needs these funds so that they can pay their outstanding dues of 176 million to KW&SB and 151 million to Hyderabad Division.
He stated that KW&SB has negotiated terms with the concerned department however due to lack of funds PHED is unable to pay the dues. M.D KW&SB requested Secretary Finance Department and Local Government to direct PHED to pay the bills so that KW&SB can ensure swift provision of water supply and sewerage facilities to the citizens of Karachi.
