Karachi: Karachi Water & Sewerage Board during a high level meeting declared the 2530% discount on payments void from now on. Moreover, complaints regarding water and sewerage problem would be resolved only if the bill of the consumer is paid. Complainant would have to provide consumer number and a copy of bill paid along with the complaint.
Managing Director KW&SB Misbahuddin Farid chaired a high level meeting attended by all Deputy Managing Directors, Director Bulk, Director Retail, Director Industrial, Deputy Directors and officers of meter division. M.D KW&SB declared 2013 The Year of Revenue expressing that this year our first and far most priority is to improve the revenue conditions.
During the meeting, 35% discount for consumers paying their dues in one payment, and 25% discount for consumer paying their dues in three instalments was declared void. Moreover, community complaints would be catered only if the total billing from the area is up to 75%.
M.D KW&SB stated that, officers of Revenue Department must ensure timely provision of water to Industrial and Bulk consumers. They should strive to increase the Tax Net, and ensure recovery from all consumers. He said that, to improve the revenue recovery it is vital that all residential, commercial, industrial and bulk consumers are billed in a timely manner.
He directed them to take measure to bring the consumers that are not currently on the tax net to the tax net. Expressing his distress he said that it is now a dire need of the situation that KW&SB must treat the consumers as per their bill payment status. Areas would be catered depending on their bill payment, higher the payment ratios better the facilities.
Moreover, complaints would be catered only if the consumers produce a copy of recent bill paid. He also appealed the citizens that in order to ensure quick solution to their problems they must bring a copy of their paid bill when the file the complaint. Furthermore, they must pay their bills on time so that KW&SB can ensure provision of facilities to all citizens.
He said that the decision is taken to improve the quality of service which is an expensive procedure and in order to provide better facilities we need to improve our revenue. M.D KW&SB has also transferred officers from Revenue Department in order to ensure better performance.
