Lahore: Agriculture, livestock and dairy sector could play a crucial role in the economic turnaround of Pakistan. Punjab government is fully exploiting its potential to get rid of the economic ills. Horse & Cattle show would not only highlight the potential of livestock and dairy sector in Punjab but would also open new avenues for investment.
“Our future is linked with livestock sector and we have to march forward speedily for improvement of this sector.”
While addressing a business moot here Monday, Member National Assembly (MNA) and Chairman Committee for Horse & Cattle Show 2015 Pervez Malik said that previous governments ignored the agriculture, livestock and dairy sector of Punjab but Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif is taking all possible measures to fully exploit the untapped potential of these important sectors.
Pervez Malik said that livestock sector is the backbone of the economy and promotion of this important sector can not only help eliminate poverty and unemployment but can also earn huge foreign exchange through export of livestock and daily products therefore perfect policies are being designed by the Punjab government for the agriculture sector.
He said that development of livestock and dairy sector is one of the priorities of the government and all resources are being utilized for the development of these important sectors.
He said that vast opportunities of development of livestock sector exist in Punjab and the use of modern technology in this sector can help in the economic uplift of livestock farmers as well as strengthening of national economy.
PML-N leader said that quality of livestock products is being ensured for export of Halal meat. He said that facilities are being provided to the cattle farmers for enhancing the production of livestock and private sector is also being encouraged for development of this sector.
He said that improvement of farms of livestock farms in public sector is the need of the hour. He said that the process of vaccination of the animals is being carried out in a proper manner and private sector should also be encouraged for vaccination of animals as we have to protect the interests of poor livestock farmers at all cost.
Pervez Malik informed the participants that Punjab government has taken unprecedented steps for the development and progress of Cholistan and five modern livestock farms have been established.
He hoped that Horse & Cattle Show of the Punjab government after a long period would write a new story of success and help highlighting the potential of Punjab’s livestock and dairy sector.
