Mehsud Tribe youth hold protest against displacement

Islamabad: The large number of Internally Displaced Persons IDPs of Mehsud tribe youth have gathered outside of National Press Club NPC on Tuesday, in order to hold protest against displacement. The protest was held under the aegis of Action Committee of Mehsud tribe youth.

Mehsud IDPs from South Waziristan have settled in Tank and DI Khan districts since the Rah-e-Nijat operation in 2009. While talking to media persons they have demanded that operation Rah-e-Nijat should be stopped immediately. “We had displaced since 2009 after the operation Rah-e-Nijat” they added.

They urged upon the government to return their native place and compensate of all damages included 57000 houses and business places and educational institutions. They also demanded that ongoing drone attacks should be stopped immediately as such attacks were openly violations of country constitution.

During the protest leader of FATA Joint Parliamentarians Group and MNA Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi and Parliamentary leader of the Fata Senators, Senator Maulana Mohammad Saleh Shah visited the protest camp and expressed solidarity with protesters.
They told the protesters that they fully supported their demands and added their issues would be raised at all forums. President of Action Committee of Mehsud tribe youth, Advocate Sherpao Khan said that protest sit-in would continue until the fulfilment of demands.
