KARACHI: Karachi: July 08: KMC Metropolitan Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan has said the students who got significant status in sports along with education are not only pride for this city but also a precious asset of the country.
KMC was proud of such students who were in an effort to bright the name of their country. “Holding of summer camp was also aimed at creating capable players in different sectors.”
He expressed these views while addressing as a the chief guest in closing ceremony of summer camp in KMC Sports Complex, Kashmir Road, which was held under the arrangements of Culture Sports & Recreation Department KMC on Monday.
On this occasion, Sr Director Culture, Sports & Recreation Shoaib Waqar, Director Sports Afaq Durrani, Director Khursheed Shah, Director Land Sabahul Islam, Director Zoo Faheem Khan and other officers concerned were also present.
The summer camp was held for three weeks in which 125 students were provided with trainings of eight different sports which include swimming, karate, table tennis, tennis, skating, squash, art classes and physical exercise. A good number of parents also attended the closing ceremony of Sports Gala and children’s favourite cartoon Mickey Mouse was also in the ceremony whereas children were provided with magic shows and other type of sports.
Chief Guest Metropolitan Commissioner also announced 10,000 reward for each magician and 5,000 each for other artists including Mickey Mouse.
Matanat said that KMC has always supported and patronized such activities. Holding of such activities along with construction works was also a part of KMC responsibilities.
He said that a healthy society was made by participation of children in constructive activities, their healthy life and proper care. “Sports and recreation activities were necessary for mental and physical health, whereas healthy activities could produce active and dynamic youth. Face painting was also arranged for children in the ceremony whereas comedy artists Aftab Alam and Tanveer Ahmed told various jokes to the children.”
Matanat at the end of ceremony distributed shields and cash rewards among coaches of different sports.
