KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Government and Health Syed Owais Muzaffar on Monday directed secretary local government and administrators of KMC and all 5 DMCs of Karachi to launch cleanliness drive week so as to clean and beautify the megalopolis.
The provincial minister further directed secretary local government and administrators to prepare a comprehensive plan in this regard and evolve a viable strategy for execution of the same.
“All available resources should be utilized in this regard so that Karachiites may feel a visible difference,” he said. Owais also ordered timely lifting of garbage by DMCs and its disposal to landfill sites. The lifting of garbage should be a routine exercise and its burning should be avoided as it creates many respiratory diseases, he observed.
Owais also directed administrators to launch a comprehensive fumigation drive with the cooperation of relevant health authorities. “The spread of dengue and malaria is of grave concern and situation demands extensive fumigation in all parts of Karachi.
He further said that DMCs should educate masses not to throw garbage in drains and it should be thrown at designated places for collection and disposal.
He ordered DMCs to ensure availability of all human resources during cleanliness campaign and warned that no slackness would be tolerated in this regard as he would personally monitor the situation in various parts of the city.
