KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday issued notices to home secretary, director anti-corruption and other official respondents on a petition filed by MPA Syed Aijaz Shah Sheerazi seeking quashment of FIR against him.
A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Muhammad Ali M Shiekh also issued notice to advocate general and prosecutor general of Sindh and adjourned the matter by August 30.
The petitioner, Syed Aijaz Shah Sheerazi, who won the provincial assembly seat (PS-84) in Thatta district, stated that ruling party had been victimizing his family and supporters through local police. He claimed that Sheerazi family had opposed the ruling party in general elections and that was why many false FIR had been registered against his family after the elections.
The petitioner through his counsel alleged that at the instigation of ruling party of the province, a forged case relating to misappropriation of funds to the tune of millions has been registered against him.
He said that it was alleged in the case that he as advisor to the chief minister for forest and wildlife department embezzled the union council funds during his tenure. While denying the allegations set forth in FIR, he said that case was politically motivated and he had nothing to do with funds of local government as funds were directly disbursed by finance secretary to Taluka nazim.
He requested the court to order quashment of FIR against him and restrain the respondents from persecuting his family.
