MQM files petition against missing of party workers

Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement MQM on Tuesday filed a petition in the Sindh High Court seeking whereabouts of missing party workers.

The petition was filed by MQM leader Farooq Sattar, who submitted in the petition that during last four months their 9 workers have been kidnapped by the rangers and police officials.

He submitted that party workers who were taken away include Fahim Riaz, Farooq Ahmed, Zeeshan Gul, Usman Ahmed, Saeed, Aftab Alam Shah, Muhammad Asif Khan and Arshad Ayaz Hussain. He said that families of the abducted workers had approached the concerned police stations but police refused to register FIR and avoided any action for their recovery.

He expressed apprehensions that their party workers would be tortured or killed by the law enforcing agencies.

The petitioner pleaded the court to direct the respondents to divulge the information about whereabouts of the missing workers. He cited Interior secretary, home secretary, IG Sindh, DIG South, Incharge SIU and CID and SHOs of police stations concerned as respondents.

The petition would come up for hearing on Wednesday.
