MQM hold big rally to support army, LEAs

Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) held a big rally in Karachi on Sunday to show solidarity with the Pakistan army, rangers and police who are fighting Taliban militants.

Addressing the rally on telephone from London, MQM chief Altaf Hussain said the friends of Taliban are the traitors of Pakistan. He said the army should take stern action against the Taliban and the whole nation would back it. He said many years back he warned the people of the threat of Talibanization but no heeds were paid. He said today the solidarity of Pakistan is on the stake due to the Talibanization.

He strongly criticized the Taliban and their ideology. He said we are not Muslims because of Taliban. He said the Taliban do not recognize the constitution of Pakistan. He said the supporters of Taliban are hypocrites. He said the supporters of Taliban are not friends of Pakistan. He said the government, army and the people have to be on the same page to fight extremism. He said if we are strong internally we can overcome the external threats.

Altaf Hussain said now is the time of now or never. He said we all should join hands to fight threats facing the nation and country. He said MQM is not against any nationality, but it wants a government of 98percent poor masses of Pakistan. He said we want only peace and we are not against anyone. He thanked the political parties that joined the rally and he also thanked the government and law enforcing agencies for providing security to the rally.

A large number of people including women participated in the rally. Later, the rally participants dispersed peacefully.
