Islamabad: Federal Law Minister Farooq H. Naek informed the National Assembly that Parliamentary Committee, constituted by the Speaker to negotiate with Election Commission on election procedure and B.A degree issue, held a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner in Islamabad Thursday. He said Chairman Higher Education Commission was also present on the occasion.
Farooq H. Naek said that during the meeting it was decided that the Election Commission of Pakistan will not directly write letters to the candidates for verification of the degrees rather it will ask HEC to write letters to the concerned Universities for the verification of the degrees.
He said if degree of any candidate is found to be fake then the Election Commission will issue show cause notice to the concerned candidate.
He said the committee expressed full confidence in the Election Commission for the free, fair and transparent election. He expressed the hope that the election will be held well in time for the continuity of the democracy.
