QUETTA: After doctors and businessmen now politicians were being kidnapped. In recent abduction former provincial President Awami National party and Chief of Kasi tribes Nawab Abdul Zahir Kasi was abducted during broad day light here Wednesday.
ANP workers strongly protesting his abduction blocked different roads by burning tyres at various chowks and resorted to firing in the city. One person was injured.
According to details Nawab Arbab Zahir Kasi was going on a plaza from his house here today. Four armed men riding a car stopped his vehicle at gun point and forcibly put him in the car. When Zahir Kasi’s driver offered resistance armed men tortured him and fled to unknown place.
On information of his abduction ANP workers got angered and they came on roads in large number. They burnt tyres on various roads. They burnt tyres and resorted to aerial firing. Firing cause severe fear and panic among the people. A man was also injured in aerial firing at Moti Ram road.
Addressing emergency Press conference ANP Provincial Organiser Abdul Jabbar Kakar and others said that a shutter down would be observed and protest demonstrations would be held all over Balochistan including Quetta tomorrow (Thursday).
They said kidnapping of a political leader is question mark on the performance of government and administration. Government has failed to provide security to its citizens. They said Nawab Zahir Kasi is not a noble citizen but one of the important leaders of ANP.
They said Nawab Arbab Zahir Kasi has been abducted for ransom as he has no enmity with anyone.
Answering a question they discarded involvement of Taliban or any other factor in kidnapping of Zahir Kasi. They warned if Government and agencies did not recover Nawab Kasi they would enhance their protest.
They also regretted torturing journalists and breaking board of press club during protest today.
Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch while strongly condemning abduction of Nawab Zahir Kasi has directed law enforcement agencies for steps for his early recovery. He further directed them to take immediate measures for the security to life and property of people.
