Nine more dengue fever cases detected

KARACHI: Nine more dengue viral fever cases were detected in Karachi on Wednesday, increasing the patients’ toll to 318 from January 2013, said Dengue Surveillance Cell Sindh.

Focal Person for Dengue Surveillance Cell Sindh Dr M Shakeel Aamir Mullick said that 328 dengue fever cases were reported in Sindh province since January 2013, out of them 318 were reported in Karachi. “Two dengue patients died owing to the disease in Karachi this year.”

Mullick said that 12 dengue patients were still admitted to different hospitals of the city and nine new cases have been reported in Karachi on June 26. However, 16 patients were discharged from hospitals after treatment on Wednesday.
