No economy cut imposed on medicines budget of Govt. hospitals

LAHORE: A spokesman of Health Department Punjab has contradicted the news items published in a section of Press regarding the economy cut on medicines budget in government hospitals in the province.

The spokesman further said that Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has already issued instructions that no cut should be imposed on medicines budget of government hospitals for smoothly provision of medicines to the poor and deserving patients.

The spokesman said that total allocation for the medicines’ budget of PIC for 2013-14 is Rs. 1119.347 million whereas, the PIC administration has utilized only Rs. 624 million up to December 2013 and the department has written a letter on 10-12-2013 to the administration of PIC to submit a report in this regard.

The spokesman clarified that there was no truth in the news items and the statements issued by a segment of the society and termed these statements as purely baseless.
