No respite in train delays

Karachi: The schedule of up and down trains of Pakistan Railways continue to be distributed owing to multiple factors and about half dozen ups trains are arriving at Cantt Station and City Station of Karachi 5 to 6 hours late.

The railway authorities claim that now there is no shortage of fuel; however, engines failures, shortage of engines and foggy weather are the main causes of inordinate train delay.

Railway Inquiry Desk Clerk Jehangir said that Millat Express, Farid & Zakria Express are reaching the Cantt station almost 8 to 5 hours late. However, Awam Express, Hazara Express will arrive 2 to 3 hours late as compared to its routine timing.

He said despite late arrival of ups trains, the departure timing of down trains from Cantt Station is not affected. The trains including Karachi Express, Tezgam, Zakria & Farid Express, Bolan Express, Khushal Express, Sukkur Express and Khyber Mail would be departed from Cantt Station as per their routine timing.

It is believed that if new engines are included in Pakistan Railway fleet the situation would automatically improve.

The constant delays of trains have irked the passengers, especially families who prefer to travel by rail.
