KARACHI: Sindh High Court SHC on Tuesday directed the director general of Sindh Rangers, provincial police chief and other police officials to furnish their replies in four petitions seeking whereabouts of missing men allegedly picked up by Rangers during raids in different parts of the city.
Petitioner Quz Bano, resident of Lyari Town, submitted that her son Ali Baqar Baloch was picked up on June 21 from house by the rangers during raid and since then his whereabouts have not been known. She submitted before the court that rangers have illegally detained his son without any plausible reason and were not producing him before court.
Another petitioner Hina Rizwan submitted that her husband, Rizwan Qureshi was taken away on June 16 by Rangers personnel and his whereabouts are unknown. She said that she had approached the Ferozabad police station for lodging an FIR but the police did not take any action to recover her husband.
Petitioner Syeda Rizwana Sohail stated that husband Sohail Ahmed was picked up by Rangers on June 30 during a raid from his shop in Gizri area.
The petitioners pleaded the court to direct the respondent officials to produce the missing persons in court.
A division bench headed by Irfan Sadat Khan issued notices to the home secretary, the provincial police chief, the Rangers DG and other police officials.
