Peshawar: On the directives of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak a number of news projects to promote tourism in the province are in the pipeline. These include a modern ferry services on River Sindh and River Kabul at Nowshera, Khair Abad, Kund, Dera Ismail Khan and other places.
Such services will also be started on other rivers of the province. For this purpose provincial government has already purchased a ferry with a capacity of 50 persons. Similarly special train service would be launched between Nowsher and Attock.
This was disclosed in a briefing on the promotion of tourism in the province held at CM secretariat Peshawar on Wednesday. The briefing was attended by Chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Imran Khan, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Provincial Ministers for Sports and Tourism Mehmood Khan, Senior Leader of PTI and MNA Asad Umar and others.
The participants were told that the ferry service will be helpful for tourist to see the rare species of blue dolphin found in river Sindh.
It was informed that new tourists resorts have been discovered in various places of the province including Naran , Kaghan, Swat, Galiyat , Dir and Chitral; and these resorts would be developed and open for tourists in the near future.
It was decided in the meeting that effective measures would be taken to address the issue of Environmental pollution in the already existing tourist points whereas the service of national and international experts would be hired to develop newly discovered points on modern lines and avoid environmental pollution on these points.
It was further decided that tent villages with all the required facilities would be setup in mountainous areas having lakes and springs instead of erecting guest houses and other constructions.
Authorities of provincial tourism department told they were working on a plan to engage young volunteers to promote tourism and to clean the tourist resorts off garbages.
Similarly cycle rallies, hiking, race competition and other activities would be arranged in various tourist resorts for the young lot. On this occasion Chairman PTI Imran Khan stressed the need effective measures for the cutting of trees and forests adding that construction of buildings in tourists points should be discouraged.
Similarly in other briefing on youth activities it was told that seven youth centers (Jawan Markaz) have been established in the seven divisions of the province to provide sample opportunities of social, culture and other extracurricular activities to the youth.
For this purpose Advisory councils have been established to hold activities in these centers. Briefing the participants Secretary Sports, Culture & Youth Affair Tariq Jamil told that suitable places for these centers have already been selected and required funds for the purpose have been arranged adding that by end of this month these centers would start working.
Seminars, Workshops, Symposium, Carrier Counselling and other healthy activities would be held in these centers; told Tariq Jamil.
In another briefing on Sports activities it was disclosed that almost seventy sports stadiums will be setup in all the Tehsils of the Province, and condition of the existing sports complexes and stadiums would be improved to promote sports activities in the province. It was told in the meeting that these modern types of stadiums would be constructed on 40 Kanal of lands in each tehsil.
