OIC chief congratulates people of Indonesia for holding successful General Elections

Jeddah, The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) dispatched an Election Observation Mission (EOM) to the Republic of Indonesia to oversee its General Elections.

The OIC EOM monitored the elections in Jakarta and its suburbs held on 17 April 2019 and noted with satisfaction that the elections were conducted in an open, peaceful and orderly manner in conformity with the Indonesian electoral law as well as with the internationally accepted norms.

In this regard, OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen congratulated the people and the Government of Indonesia for the successful conduct of the elections and commended the great sense of maturity and responsibility displayed by the people of Indonesia through these elections.

The OIC is fully confident that the success of the 2019 General Elections would further contribute to strengthening democratic practices and institutions for the development and prosperity of the country and its people.
