OIC denounces Moldova’s decision to move embassy in Israel to occupied Jerusalem

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed its rejection and condemnation of Moldova's decision to relocate its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to the occupied city of Jerusalem.

In a statement issued Thursday, the OIC considered Moldova's decision as illegal and a violation of the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, especially Resolution 478 (1980), and the resolutions of the UN General Assembly on Jerusalem, which confirmed the rejection of any actions that would prejudice the historical, legal and political status of occupied Jerusalem.

The OIC General Secretariat called on the Government of Moldova to reverse this decision and to respect its legal and political obligations under international law and resolutions of international legitimacy. It also urged the Government to adopt positions that support the chances of achieving peace based on the vision of a twostate solution, and promoting security and stability in the region and the world.
