KARACHI: Construction work of Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal is in final stage and shifting of oil tankers would start after Ramadan whereas various shops of spare parts, mechanics, tyre and others located in Shireen Jinnah Colony would also be shifted.
He informed this while visiting Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal where he talked to a good number of oil tanker owners, shop keepers, officials and members of different associations of oil tankers. Project Director Ansar Zaidi, Sr Director Municipal Services Masood Alam, Sr Director Transport & Communication Muhammad Athar and other officers were also present.
KMC administrator said the orders regarding terminal issued by Supreme Court would be implemented and no one would be allowed to violate its orders. He said that shops located here would be allotted through draw and alternative roads would also be constructed for oil tankers.
Earlier Project Director informed KMC Administrator that various works, including availability of water, mosque, overhead tank, wash rooms, boundary walls and construction of parking area have been completed whereas levelling works on 50 acre more land was underway which would be completed soon so that 1200 acre land allocated for parking terminal could be used.
Police and rangers check posts inside and outside routes of Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal, waiting area consisting of two rooms for police and rangers, toilets, bath rooms, construction of mosque, tyre shops and 1500 feet long boundary walls had also been completed by KMC.
KMC administrator said that Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal was being completed with the cost of Rs313 million and 2375 oil tankers could be parked at the terminal at a time where infrastructure for above 10,000 people was available.
He said it was an old demand of citizens which was being fulfilled. “Completion of this project will reduce heavy traffic on city roads and improve traffic flow as well. Hindrances in remaining works have been removed and it was directed to increase pace of works as well.”
He said this was a combined project which was being carried out in collaboration with Sindh government, KMC and oil companies. Measures for providing oil tankers and their owners with foolproof security would be taken as well.
