Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, only 30% Pakistanis say they read books; 43% of these say they read every day. A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Do you read books (other than school/college text books)?” Responding to this, 30% said yes and 70% said no.
Those who said “yes” were further asked “How frequently do you read books?” Responding to this, 43% said every day, 32% said once a week, 9% said once every two weeks and 16% said once a month.
A comparison of answers between males and females revealed that more males (35%) than females (23%) read books frequently.
