Oxford organizes education skills workshop

KARACHI: As a part of its ongoing teacher training programme, Oxford University Press organized a workshop for the faculty of the Nasra School network on Excel Early Skills English and Excel Early Skills Maths, an English and Mathematics series for pre-primary classes, at its office.

Based on the curriculum, the Excel Early Skills series covers a wide range of English and Mathematics topics to give children a head start for the school years to come. The series offers a systematic and comprehensive programme of 10 books on both the subjects.

A clear and easy to follow page design has been developed in the books with clear explanations. The activities in each book are divided into double pages, allowing children to practice one particular skill many times so that it is reinforced. Each book also has cheerful, brightly colored illustrations to attract children’s interest.

The workshop was conducted by Rahila Ashraf, who is currently a member of staff at Oxford University Press, where she has done research for various Oxford publications. She has invaluable experience of conducting teacher training workshops on numerous English language programmes being offered by Oxford University Press.

Rahila also has vast teaching experience, having taught at some of the prestigious schools of Karachi.
