Pak cyclists to feature in Asian Cycling C’ship

Karachi: Pakistan Cycling Federation PCF on Tuesday announced that the Pakistani cyclists will feature in 33rd Asian Cycling Championship to be held from 5th to 17th March in New Delhi, India.

PCF has prepared probables list, which includes cyclists from Pakistan Army, SSGC, Higher Education Commission HEC, Sindh, Punjab and KPK province. Initial list of probable have been drawn for the camp.

The secretary PCF Syed Azhar Ali Shah has informed that since the WAPDA and Railway cyclists have not joined the training camp, they have been deemed ineligible for the selection in the national cycling team. He informed that several notices were issued, however their cyclists failed to turn-up with the due formalities and permission for the camp.

Azhar Ali Shah further informed that the 60th edition of the National Cycling Championship will be held from 20th February in Lahore.

The selection committee will meet on 25th February after the conclusion of the national championship to announce the squad. Ten men and two women will be picked for the Asian Championship assignment.

Probables: Men’s seniors category: Noor Alam, Habibullah, Neamat Ali, Sohail Majeed, Asif Junior, Abdullah Aslam, Ghulam Abbad and Imran Shoqat. Men’s Under23 category: Sajid Ali, Waqas Mehboob, Awais Ali, Sultan Aftab, Abid, and Zeeshan Ali. Men’s junior category: Muhammad Sultan. Women’s senior category: Malika Malik, Rajea Shabir and Maham Tariq. Women’s junior category: Anam Mahmood.
